Connecting to internet in the open air in some of the best known spots in the town will soon be possible. The councillor responsible for new technology, Félix Romero, announced that within two months wi-fi wireless networks would be installed in the Plaza de Los Naranjos and El Paseo de La Alameda in Marbella and in the Plaza de la Iglesia in San Pedro Alcántara, and that laptop computer owners will be able to connect to the world wide web free of charge in these public areas. The testing stage of the systems is well under way in what is the first stage of the project. The second stage will see wi-fi installation in other zones in the municipality such as the Marbella Paseo Marítimo.
